Why is Racial Harmony Day held on 21st July?

As there were racial riots on this day in 1964, in Singapore, the government has decided to hold Racial Harmony Day on 21st July annually. This is the Day which commemorates all the races to united together. Certain schools have also organised projects, concerts, food tasting & etc. on this day.
